ABOUT

What is Beans the Comic?
Loosely based on real-life stories, Beans tells the stories of cats, friends, and the just plain silly. Starting back in 2002 for a college newspaper, Beans has been an off and on project. Now it is, a full time gig you can happily enjoy it weekly.

Who am I?
I am Mandy, I live in California and am finishing up my BFA at the University of California San Diego. I have been in school longer than you have been able to breathe. I create toys and art that I sell on my other website, Sappymoosetree.com.

Tell me more about Sappymoosetree.
The fruits of my labor, Sappymoosetree has been going since about 2005 starting with the creation of a giant 15 foot tall sock monkey named Buttons. I create things mostly out of socks but make a variety of other things including Magical Magnetic Bacon Strips, Peanut Butter and Jellyfish Sandwiches, and Poop.

Why do the clothes on the characters keep changing?
I base the characters clothing off of real clothing my friends and I wear. Some of them are sold on sappymoosetree.com and others in fancy places like conducthappiness.com, or threadless.com. If you want your shirt featured, send it to me and I will wear it!

What kind of audience does this comic strip have?
If you like cute things, sewing, and stuff that doesn't make sense, then you will enjoy this comic. If you are angry at the world, hate fuzzy adorable animals, and enjoy beating up on nerds, then please close the browser.

I hate your comic.
I don't care.

I still hate your comic and want to make your life miserable, what is the easiest possible way to do this?
By sending me money via paypal. This makes me oh so miserable.

I don't think your comic is funny, can I send you chopped up edited versions of how I think you need to draw your comic?
No. I draw what I draw, you are not obligated to read anything here. If you want to mess with a comic, feel free to draw your own. Don't send me emails unless it is about cute kittens or to let me know that Quantum Leap DVDs are on sale.

Where can I find the old skool steam boat willie beginning Beans comics?
Every comic has to start somewhere, here is an archive of the ancient old dusty black and white version of Beans published in the Southwestern Sun Newspaper from back in the ol' days.

How is your Comic Made?
Drawn crudely with a mouse and colored in photoshop. I have a tablet, but no desk. Someday, a desk will come ( looks longingly into sky).
